Tinsae
Humanitarian Charity Organization (THCO) was founded as Tinsae Charity
Committee in January 2020 by a group of concerned and energetic Tigrians who
came together to provide humanitarian aid to those
impacted by the conflict in Tigray. The committee has been responding through a variety of interventions to the ongoing crisis in Tigray, which has resulted
in widespread displacement, violence, and human suffering. After serving the
people of Tigray as a committee for two years, the committee was reestablished
as an NGO called Tinsae Humanitarian Charity Organization on November 22, 2022,
and officially registered with registration number 6524 under the Civil Society Organizations Proclamation number 1113/2019.
‘Tinsae’
(ትንሳኤ)
is a Tigrigna word meaning ‘resurrection’. Just as it is believed that there
can be new life after death, THCO aspires to create new hope and practically
show that good things can be done and achieved after difficult times.
THCO
focuses on both humanitarian aid and development interventions. THCO focuses on
providing immediate assistance to people affected by conflicts and natural
disasters. TCHO provides food, shelter, medical care, and other basic needs in
emergencies. THCO also works on longer-term recovery projects that
help people rebuild their lives after a crisis.
In
addition to immediate humanitarian aid, THCO aims to promote sustainable
economic, social, and environmental development by assisting in
areas such as education, health, agriculture, and infrastructure. TCHO works on
long-term projects that involve building schools, clinics, and water supply systems
One
of the key goals of THCO is to promote peace and stability in the region by
addressing the underlying causes of the conflict and advocating for a peaceful
resolution. The organization also works to protect the rights of vulnerable
populations, including women, the elderly, and children, and to promote social and
economic development in the region.
To
achieve these goals, THCO relies on a team of dedicated staff and volunteers who
are committed to making a positive difference in the lives of the people
affected by the conflict. THCO also works closely with local and international
partners, including government agencies, other NGOs, and other private sector
organizations, to maximize its impact and reach as many people as possible.
THCO, established to help people affected by the war in Tigray, is a vital
organization that plays a critical role in providing lifesaving assistance and
promoting peace and stability in the region. Through its tireless efforts, THCO
is helping to alleviate the suffering of those impacted by the conflict and to
create a better future for the people of Tigray.
VISION
THCO
seeks to see people within communities of the Tigray region living in a peaceful,
developed, healthy environment with access to basic education, health, and economic
opportunities in life.
MISSION
THCO
works to improve and upgrade communities, and enrich the lives of vulnerable
groups, including CR survivors, people with disability, women, the elderly, children, and war veterans, through a variety of protection and livelihood projects;
vocational and agricultural trainings, and women empowerment programs.
GOAL
Our goal is to have an impact on lives by providing high-impact oriented, cost-effective, and culturally competent capacity building programs to people in the Tigray region specifically: GBV survivors, people with disability, women, the elderly, children, and war veterans.
